Musikerhaus, Atelier Raimund Abraham

Insel Hombroich, Neuss, Germany

This last built work by Raimund Abraham (1933-2010), is located in a former missile field in Germany, turned into cultural park. This house of music is formed by the intersection of two geometries, a projected ellipse formed by a tilted cylinder and an equilateral triangle puncturing an opening to the sky in the disk hovering above it. This disk is a unifying element for various programs: performance spaces, practice rooms, a library and living space for four musicians in residence.

My role as design assistant to Abraham, included working on the connection between the concrete and steel elements, the various steel circulation elements, physical models, and shop drawing reviewal.
